Verne Johnson, Chairman and Director
Verne Johnson is an Professional Engineer with over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He worked for Imperial Oil and Exxon until the early 1980s before entering the independent oil business. Mr. Johnson has been involved with a number of companies in the Canadian oil and gas industry. Notably, he acted as CEO of ELAN Energy which was sold in 1997. Since 2002 he has been an independent investor through a family company, KristErin Resources. Mr. Johnson has been a director of many public and private companies in the energy business over the past 20 years. He is currently a director of Gran Tierra Energy, Chairman of US Oil Sands Inc., and sits on the Boards of various other private companies including Statoil Canada. Mr. Johnson has also been a member of the Board of Calgary Opera for 12 years.
Gordon Keep, Director
Gordon Keep has extensive business experience in investment banking and creating public natural resource companies. Mr. Keep is currently Chief Executive Officer of Fiore Management and Advisory Corporation, a private boutique merchant banking firm. He also serves as an officer and/or director for several natural resource companies. From January 2001 to July 2007, Mr. Keep was Managing Director of Corporate Finance at Endeavour Financial Corporation; from September 1997 to March 2004, he was Senior Vice President and a director of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.; and from April 1987 to October 1997, he was Vice President, Corporate Finance in the Natural Resource group of Yorkton Securities Inc. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Geological Science from Queen's University in 1979 and his Master’s of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia in 1983. He is a Professional Geologist in the province of British Columbia.
Gerard Protti, Director
Gerard Protti is Chairman of the Board of FT Services, and is Vice-Chair of Alberta Innovates Technology Futures and the Energy Policy Institute of Canada. He is also on the Board of SAIT Polytechnic. Mr. Protti has 35 years of experience in the private and public energy sectors. This includes 14 years in several executive officer roles at PanCanadian Petroleum and EnCana Corporation including marketing, operations, new ventures, offshore and international development and corporate relations. He is past Chairman of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Protti holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in economics from the University of Western Ontario and University of Alberta respectively.
Jeffrey Scott, Director
Mr. Scott is the Founder and Chairman of Gran Tierra Energy Inc. (TSX), a South American based exploration and production company with a current market capitalization of $2 billion. He has also been the President of Postell Energy Co. Ltd., a 33 year old private oil company operating in Western Canada, since June 2001. Over the last 30 years he has been involved in a variety of capacities from founder to officer and/or director of numerous publicly traded companies. He is also currently the Executive Chairman of Sulvaris Inc., a private sulphur fertilizer company. Mr. Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary and a Masters of Business Administration from California Coast University.
Frank Giustra, Director
Frank Giustra is President and CEO of Fiore Financial Corporation, an exclusive advisor to Endeavour Mining Corporation. Mr. Giustra also serves as Chairman and President of Fiore Capital Corporation, a private financial advisory firm managing a broad portfolio of private equity investments across North America. In 1997, he founded Lionsgate and served as its Chairman from 1997 to 2003. He returned to that Company’s Board of Directors in 2010.
Mr. Giustra is a strong believer in philanthropy, and devotes much of his time to a variety of causes. In 1997, he established The Radcliffe Foundation, and holds the position of President. The Radcliffe Foundation supports a wide variety of international and local charities. Mr. Giustra is a Board member of the Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative, the International Crisis Group, the William J. Clinton Foundation, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Streetohome Foundation.
General Wesley K. Clark, Director
Wesley K. Clark is a business man, educator, writer and commentator.
General Clark serves as Chairman and CEO of Wesley K. Clark & Associates, a strategic consulting firm; Co-Chairman of Growth Energy; senior fellow at UCLA's Burkle Center for International Relations; Advisor at the Blackstone Group; Trustee of International Crisis Group; Founding Chair of City Year Little Rock/North Little Rock; Chairman of Enverra Inc., a banking and strategic advisory firm; as well as numerous corporate boards. General Clark has authored four books and serves as a member of the Clinton Global Initiative's Energy & Climate Change Advisory Board, and Director of the Atlantic Council.
Clarkretired a four star general after 38 years in the United States Army. He graduated first in his class at West Point and completed degrees in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University (B.A. and M.A.) as a Rhodes Scholar. While serving in Vietnam, he commanded an infantry company in combat, where he was severely wounded and evacuated home on a stretcher. He later commanded at the battalion, brigade and division level, and served in a number of significant staff positions, including service as the Director Strategic Plans and Policy (J-5). In his last assignment as Supreme Allied Commander Europe he led NATO forces to victory in Operation Allied Force, saving 1.5 million Albanians from ethnic cleansing.
His awards include the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Defense Distinguished Service Medal (five awards), Silver star, bronze star, purple heart, honorary knighthoods from the British and Dutch governments, and numerous other awards from other governments, including award of Commander of the Legion of Honor (France).
Glenn McNamara, Chief Executive Officer and Director
Glenn McNamara has more than 30 years of oil and gas exploration and production experience in Canada, the United States, South America, and the Asia Pacific region. From August 2005 to August 2010, he was the President of BG Canada and responsible for all aspects of BG Canada’s business, including developing a growth strategy for western/northern Canada as well as Alaska. Prior to that, he held several senior executive positions with Exxon Mobil/Imperial Oil Resources, Exxon Mobil Canada Energy Ltd. and Mobil Oil Canada. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of Alberta in 1976 and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Calgary in 1988. Mr. McNamara is a Member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta and past Governor of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.
